A Blacksmith, also called smith, smithy, is a craftsman who fabricates objects out of iron by hot and cold forging on an anvil. Blacksmiths who specialised in the forging of shoes for horses were called farriers. The term blacksmith derives from iron, formerly called “black metal,” and farrier from the Latin ferrum,“iron.”
Our Black-smithy has a variety of purpose made tongs, bellows and forges with a “Champion” forge designed and patented by a 15 year old in 1885.
The Smithy is operational on Hi-days and Holidays by local smithies plying their trade!
